Embrace History: The NFL Apparently Decided Against Using An Electric Measuring System, So The Chain Gang Ain't Going Anywhere

We saw the NFL use this electric measuring system during the preseason, the first step to eliminate the chain gang:

Hell yes! Billions of dollars in this league, why would we change what we know? Random dudes running onto the field with metal links and the chain to measure a first down. It's reliable. Not enough? They have the safest, most advanced system I've ever seen to see if it's a first down or not.

Why use electric measuring and technology that will only be more accurate when we can be on pins and needles seeing an index card come out? This is football, baby. This is where coaches becomes soft asses and punt on 4th and short from the 48. This is a league where you can't hit anyone anymore. This is a league where the chain gang is needed. You know guys like Jim Harbaugh are thrilled about this. No chance they trust technology over the chain gang. True football guys need to see the orange or black/yellow striped vests and wait a minute for the decision and measurement.

You know there's going to be an early week game determined by a questionable spot. Everyone will be calling for new technology and king rat Goodell will sit there smug looking and clueless. If only there was an option! But for now, embrace the history. Embrace yelling at refs being dumb and having no idea how to spot anything. Can't wait for the index card to come out and determine a game again. Real football.
