YIKES! - Newly Fired Mariners Manager Scott Servais Found Out He Was Fired Via A News Alert On Social Media

What a bush league move from the Seattle Mariners here. Early on Thursday they fired their manager Scott Servais who had been there since 2016. They've been underachieving all year- they have unreal pitching but some of the worst offense I've ever seen. The M's are 64-64 and have choked away a division lead to the red hot Astros and that led them to decide that they need to go in another direction.

GM Jerry Dipoto made the decision to can Servais, but apparently the front office didn't didn't go to the manager first with the news. Servais was scheduled to meet with Dipoto in the afternoon but was alerted of his own firing on social media. That is some JV Dan Snyder/John Angelos shit. How does Seattle's FO let that out beforehand? No wonder Seattle hasn't won anything ever.

If I'm Seravis and saw that post before my meeting I just flat out don't go. Why show up? You know what the meeting is about, you probably had a pretty good idea before the meeting too, but to disrespect a guy who had been there 8 years like that? Clown move by everyone involved. It's just another sign of how dysfunctional that place is and maybe Servais is lucky to be gone. Getting fired sucks, but getting fired and finding out from a tweet before you meet with your boss is 1,000 times shittier. Seattle's ownership and front office must have so much egg on their face after the crap they've pulled the last few years. That whole place needs a complete overhaul, but a new manager is not going to fix the bigger problem out there.
