We Are Truly in the Darkest of Times When Even Our Victoria's Secret Supermodels Aren't Safe From Being Robbed of $1 Million in Valuables

I suppose that in 2024, the very idea of there being "honor among thieves" is an antiquated notion. A relic from a simpler time, if such a time ever existed at all. It's just that, no matter how low an opinion you might have of career criminals, there are minimal standards of behavior you'd like to hold them to. Certain lines you'd expect them never to cross. No matter how much they stand to profit from their misdeeds. And one of those lines is that they not target the very people who have brought joy to this drab world.

Sadly though, that's asking too much:

Source - Daniela Braga's recovering from a recent break-in … after she says she came home to find burglars had ransacked her house -- and made off with a huge haul.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Daniela arrived home late Tuesday night to discover her place had been burgled -- though the burglars were gone by the the time she arrived.

We're told the thieves smashed a back window to gain entry, then stole two safes, multiple designer bags and a ton of jewelry.

Our sources estimate the loss at over $1 million.  …

Daniela posted to IG saying the criminals took every piece of jewelry in the house … including her engagement ring and wedding band … and tore apart her closet too [and stole] their baby's ultrasound pic. …

This is the latest in a string of L.A. burglaries … with everyone from Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson to Sarah Hyland and Bhad Bhabie taking a hit.

Bottom line … celebs may want to invest in even more security -- 'cause burglars seem to be running rampant in L.A.

Short of violent crime, this type of burglary is the worst violation a person can suffer. We all have a basic human right to feel safe in our own homes, from the humblest studio apartment to the most opulent mansion. And far be it for anyone to draw a moral distinction between say, robbing a working person vs. someone who was born into obscene wealth. The invasion of privacy has to feel the same, regardless of who you are or how you got your belongings.

But can't these thieves at least spare our celebrities? Our models especially? Daniela Braga was in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show every year from 2014 to 2017. Think about how much happiness she spread during those events alone. How many millions she modeled lingerie for. How many young women she inspired to not only try to look as good as her in those outfits, but perhaps to break into modeling themselves. How many men she brought moments of euphoric pleasure to by looking amazing on the runway. Only to have these petty crooks ignore all that for their own selfish ends.

Call me an idealist. Tell me I'm naive. But I'd like to believe the human race is better than that. That the criminals who cased her house and planned that job might have paused for one minute once they saw the clothes, handbags, and jewelry. And by all that is sacred, the ultrasound photo. That they'd take a beat and reconsider their life choices. And asked themselves what it benefits a man to gain a million dollars in stolen merchandise if he loses his soul?

I'm sorry to report I'm wrong. There is no depth to which people will not sink. Whether it's taking things from Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Sarah Hyland, Bhad Bhabie, or even this legend of her industry.

Yes, Daniela Braga had to wear the ever living shit out of a lot of outfits to earn that million dollars. But if there's a silver lining to all this it's that the people who took her stuff will suffer eternal torment for their sins. And the way she looks, she'll make that money back in no time.

Let's consider that a win. In the meantime, get it together Los Angeles. If you can't protect your celebrities, how do you expect to run an Olympics in four years?
