Olympic Drama: Germany Reportedly Removed Luna Bulmahn From The Women's 4x400 Relay After Arguing About Not Being Picked To Run The Mixed Relay With Her Boyfriend

[Translation] - After the dispute over the line-up of the mixed relay over 4x400 m, the DLV has drawn consequences and removed Luna Bulmahn from the relay pool for the further competitions in Paris.

[Source] - Schmidt, 25, was chosen to start by selectors ahead of fellow 400m runner Luna Bulmahn.

That led Bulmahn, 24, to kick up a storm as she believed she was quicker than Schmidt and therefore deserved to take part.

She said on social media: "Yes, I am the second fastest 400m athlete on paper. No, I was not nominated for the mixed relay."

Schmidt's selection meant Bulmahn was denied the opportunity to compete alongside her boyfriend Jean Paul Bredau.

I understand competitive nature, you want to race, you want to win. But you know what you don't do? Cry about it publicly and play it up like you wanted to run with your boyfriend. No one cares about that. People only care about results. People only care if you have a compelling argument like being fast. I'm not going to sit here and break down if Luna Bulmahn was screwed or not because it doesn't matter. People don't get picked all the time, it's just a matter of how you handle it.

So what does Germany do because of all the complaining? Punish them. You just cost yourself a chance at running at the Olympics (reportedly, everything is in German for the most part) and got pulled out of the women's 4x400 relay. The team, the team, the team!

And, look, we're Alica Schmidt fans here. You don't attack Alica Schmidt without me getting defensive. You want some facts? Okay, Germany finished 7th in their heat. They stunk. They aren't worth crying over, Bulmahn isn't fast enough to claim they would have qualified. You're not running more than 4 seconds faster than anyone there. You gotta think big picture here. What good is it going to do to go to social media before you run your race and cry? This is what could happen to you. Wait until you run, make sure you run decent and then complain if you're going to bitch and moan.

Makes this post look a little out of place now

Alica seems to be taking the higher road right now, posting about the Olympics instead.
