Blake Sims Almost Got Pulled From His First SEC Start in Which He Threw for 445 Yards Because His Wristband Was Wrong and Nick Saban Thought He Was Going Rogue

Blake Sims's one season of college football glory was almost halted before it even started because of a very unfortunate clerical error on someone's part.

I honestly can't believe something like this was able to happen at Alabama under Nick Saban's watch. It sounds like whoever was responsible for the miscommunication between the call sheets and wristbands was never discovered, but I'd guess it's more likely that person actually was found out and then mysteriously disappeared. You don't have a fuck up like that and have Saban just never find out who was responsible for it.

In terms of Sims's strategy of what to do when things are going haywire, "Throw that bitch up to Coop," seems like a pretty good idea. And in that particular game, Amari Cooper finished with 10 catches for 201 yards and three touchdowns. That's a nice safety blanket to have.

This just shows you the ridiculous amount of talent Alabama has had for the last 15 years. Nobody even knew what plays they were running and the Crimson Tide went out there and put up 42 points on an SEC team.
