I Don't Believe It's A Hardo Move For James McCann To Stay In The Game After Taking 95-MPH Directly To The Face

Big league cheddar right in the kisser. Somebody please give this man a clean pair of underpants, new jersey and the double cotton ball:

That's all it took for James McCann to get back behind the dish back behind the dish:

Quite literally, unbelievable.

Especially if you were following the game on MLB's 3DTV app where it would certainly appear McCann died

Nope. Just fine actually. Turns out backing up Adley Rutchsman is enough motivation to stay in any game.

Personally not too surprising as McCann was a fan favorite in Bridgeport, largely because of his toughness, and stuff like that. Which is a pretty hard bunch to win over historically speaking and notwithstanding this abysmal 2024 season. But I digress.

Point is he's on a short list of guys that eat fastballs for breakfast. Some other notables:

Reed Johnson (retired), Trot Nixon (retired), Craig Biggio (retired), probably Bryce Harper (active), Paul Konerko (retired), Max Scherzer (active) before the DH.

Just a couple but again - short list. I'm not really sure how many active players are taking the field in a late July game. Honestly there might be 3 and I'd be interested to know who you think they are.

For now, I guess hat tip to James McCann? I could be wrong but I believe a number of Mets fans are probably cheering for long term neurological complications as compensation for shitty play on an important free-agent contract. I believe. Otherwise most of the baseball world is likely cheering for him myself included.

Also way too much facial trauma for this to be a hardo move. At some point you're just a hard guy and that's James McCann.

PS - I like the Hangover but don't love it the way I would if I saw it in a crowded theater. I am convinced that's a tier-1 factor in enjoying a big comedy. I got a bunch of classics in a crowded theater that hit way better even though I think Hangover is a better movie. If that makes sense. Go ahead an roll it.

PPS - Seriously though when Adley gets the day, off he gets the day off. That easily makes Brian McCann a tremendous backup catcher.
