The Braves Just Put Together the Worst Loss in MLB This Season and It's Beautifully Horrific
It seemed for several years that the good times would last forever, but the Braves' woes that have recently stayed away until at least October have been present since Opening Day in 2024. This team would drive a Mormon to alcoholism.
The best hitter and pitcher coming into the season were both done for the year before June. Every one of the team's eight 2023 All-Stars has either missed significant time and/or had the worst year of his career. What was maybe the best offense in the history of baseball last season couldn't put four runs on the board if their lives depended on it this year. And now even a 19-7 start is barely enough to keep this pile of shit team afloat in the Wild Card race, capped off with whatever the hell that 10th inning was against the Mets tonight.
I guess this was bound to happen eventually. You can't be incredible every year, even when you're the back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back division champions with a World Series thrown in there. Everyone falls eventually.
I am choosing joy this season. Mets fans are celebrating in the streets to be six games above .500 and within half a game of the worst Braves team in years — in the Wild Card race, no less — while we are considering suicide. It's all about perspective.
