CLUTCH - Max Homa Needed This 28-Foot Birdie Putt On 18 To Have A Chance At Making The Cut At The Open, Drills It And Rightfully Celebrates

I see a lot of people making fun of Max Homa for celebrating this putt. A lot of 'Chris Paul cuts the lead to 42' and things along that nature. That won't happen here. Making the cut, giving yourself a chance on the weekend should be worth celebrating. Plus, we're talking about real money at stake here. That putt alone was about worth $35,000. I know that doesn't seem like a lot, but my guess is guys want as much money as possible. Now you can turn that $35,000 into six figures with a good weekend. We saw what happened today, high scores all over the place. Maybe Max makes a couple birdies and get in 32nd where the $100,000 payout starts.

Also if you want to take the money out of it, listen to Padraig Harrington

It's step 1 at any tournament, let alone a major. So, yeah, Max had every right to go nuts. We're not seeing these putts fall, except for maybe Justin Rose a few hours earlier. But Max drilled it. 28 feet to make the cut and drills it. Go nuts. Who the hell cares? Golf is still a sport and you should celebrate shit. Obviously the line can shit to +5, it's a long shot, but for now go nuts.
