THIS IS NOT A DRILL - Mauricio Pochettino Is Officially A Candidate For The USMNT Job, US Soccer Federation Needs To Do Whatever It Takes Now

I'm a Poch fan. I know he didn't have a good run at Chelsea, you can say whatever about PSG. He was awesome at Tottenham. He's sort of made to overachieve with teams that don't have the highest of expectations. That's the sort of guy I want with this US team. Expectations? Sure. Again, you need to take a jump. No more getting out of group stage, losing to a European team in the knockout round and going well it was okay! This group has talent. That's just a stone cold fact.

He has experience playing for Argentina. He knows the international game despite never being a manager in that world. I simply trust him. I also like his style of play. The US needs to figure out how to build up from the back, play into the box and his high press can work. Take advantage of the guys we have in Pulisic, Adams, McKennie, Reyna, Flo, etc. There are weapons, we just need to learn how to use it. The one thing people said about Gregg was he, well, sucked but also he never really held anyone accountable. The development stopped, Poch is one of the best developers out there.

All I know is the US Soccer Federation needs to not fuck this up. If this is all true, go get him. I know Crocker has the relationship with Southgate. Fine. But don't let Poch just sit there while you try and wait to see what Southgate does. Bring him in, give him the 2 years to the World Cup and figure it the hell out.
