And The Dream Is Dead: Jurgen Klopp Reportedly Already Turned Down The US Manager Job

God damnit. That was a little too quick for my liking, Jurgen! You had a chance to save us.

Chief blogged that just a mere 4 hours ago. Maybe he was right that the reply was just a thumbs down, without the emoji. Klopp was going to be a savior. He would have been a hero if he took the job. He could have been the most liked coach in American sports simply because he's not from the MLS and more importantly he's not Gregg. I mean he can still have a break, we don't play until September:

I don't know who else we go after. It feels like it'll end up being Steve Cherundolo, but the Klopp dream died fast. Is this basically the 'you gotta make Dan Hurley say no' strategy? It feels that way. I know that feeling far too well. I really thought there was a slight chance Klopp would take it though. This is the most important hire for the USMNT. You have a group of guys in their prime, who are more talented than guys we've had in the past. They need - this might be shocking - a good coach. Funny how that can work out for teams. We're hosting the World Cup in 2 years and should be looking at making it past the round of 16 (that'd be 2 wins in the knockout round this time around with the new setup). Don't rush it just to hire someone.

I also don't trust Matt Crocker though. I saw people talking about his ties to Southgate, whatever. At least have the conversation this weekend. Just don't fuck up this hire.
