Texas A&M Baseball Coach Jim Schlossnagle Bolts for Texas a Day After Losing the National Championship and Saying He Planned To 'Never Take Another Job'

Well that was quick! Rumors had been swirling surrounding Texas A&M coach Jim Schlossnagle and the Texas opening throughout the weekend while the Aggies took on Tennessee in the College World Series finals and less than 24 hours after falling to the Vols, Schlossnagle is on his way to Austin.

Schlossnagle was asked about the job opening last night and responded by accosting the reporter who asked the question, but also including in his answer, "I took the job at Texas A&M to never take another job again." Certainly not a denial, but also not something it seems like you'd say if you knew you were leaving for the very job you were being asked about in a matter of hours.

You can either get mad at somebody for asking that question and stay or dance around it and then leave. But you can't do both.

In terms of the hire, though, this is a coup for Texas. Schlossnagle took TCU to five College World Series before going to Omaha two more times in his three seasons at Texas A&M. With the resources Texas has and the Longhorns moving to the SEC, he'll have everything he needs to compete for the national title most years.

If the SEC puts the series between these two teams in Austin next season instead of College Station, there need to be protests outside the league office. Schlossnagle returning to College Station is an absolute must-watch weekend. I'm thinking May 2-4, if anyone is taking suggestions.

If you have any A&M friends, give them a hug today. They could use it.
