Ever since Tom Brady left, the city of Boston has been searching for a new king. It's a position you obtain through one thing and one thing only.

Winning a title (and more than one certainly doesn't hurt).

There are plenty of young candidates across the four major sports that have made their case for this nod in the years post-Brady, but until now all challengers for the crown were missing the most important piece.

Well, the time has come to award the new King Of The City, and his name is Jayson Tatum

When the Celts started the 2024 season, a moment like this was on the table. To win a title in the City of Champions and end the 16 year Celtics drought not only was going to stamp Jayson Tatum (and everyone else) as Celtics and Boston legends forever, but it was going to solidify Tatum as the next king. Remember, this was him before he even won the thing

Earlier this season, we got our first taste of what his potential reign may look like

and now that he delivered a title and restored order by bringing the Celtics back to the top of the mountain, there is simply no debate. Jayson Tatum is the new King Of The City.

And before you even try it, this does not take anything away from guys like Jaylen Brown. Don't be fucking weird. You want to call them co-Kings? I'm not sure that's even a thing but listen I'm not going to fight you. At the end of the day, we're blessed to have them both for the foreseeable future.

From the second Tatum was drafted, this was the moment we all dreamed would become reality. As it turns out, Tatum was destined to take the reins and fill the gigantic void left by Tom Brady. To have been there since the beginning, to watch him develop and go through hell only to come out the other side a champion and King Of The City doesn't even seem real. How is this our life? This entire week has felt like a dream that I never, ever want to wake up from.
