Life Comes At You Fast: Not Long After Anthony Edwards Clowned The Suns For Getting Blown Out By The Mavs At Home, The Exact Same Thing Happened To Him

On May 15th, 2022 the Dallas Mavericks beat the absolute hell out of the 64 win Suns in their own building to the tune of 123-90. Luka whooped that ass with 35/10/4 on 12-19 shooting, Jalen Brusnon had an efficient 24, Spencer Dinwiddie (!!!!) of all people had 30 (!!!) off the bench, and honestly, the game was over in the first quarter after the Mavs jumped out to a 27-17 lead and then pushed it out to a 57-27 halftime lead.

On the other end, the Suns shot 37/35%, Booker went 3-14 (0-4) with 4 TOs and that was that.

Well, during that ass kicking, a certain someone hopped on the internet to clown the Suns

Luka whipped that ass with 36/10/5 on 14-22 shooting, Kyrie had an efficient 36, and honestly, the game was over in the first quarter after Mavs jumped out to a 35-19 lead and then pushed it out to a 69-40 halftime lead

Well well well, not so much fun now huh? This is what Anthony Edwards failed to realize back in 2022. The Basketball Gods are ALWAYS watching. So while I'm sure he loved the internet clout, going viral, everyone talking about how much "aura" he had when he was trashing the Suns, little did he know what was headed his way.

Not only did the Wolves get blown the fuck out at home in an elimination game right ahead of the Finals, but it was against the same team, with the same star player, who had the exact same type of dominant performance. If you don't think that's the Basketball Gods at work, you my friend are not paying attention.

It was a tough WCF for Ant after the world declared him the next MJ and everyone declared the Wolves were headed to the Finals after beating the Nuggets. Sadly, that's not how playoff basketball works. Just 24 a game on 43% shooting with 3.4 TOs a night and a -6.4 for the series, it was pretty obvious that the Mavs were able to take advantage of Ant's slow processing speed and ability to read defenses quickly, and then once the Wolves started to get tight in Game 5, it was a wrap. One team came ready to play, the other team pooped their pants. It happened in 2022, and it happened again in 2024.

Listen, there's always going to be risk when you talk shit like Ant did in that clip. That's part of the gig. When you talk shit and then back it up, you're beloved. But when you talk shit and it ultimately blows up in your face? That's tough. The good news is Ant is still young as shit, and his passing/reading defenses leap will come as he ages. That's been the case with every young star in the league, and the only way you improve in that area is by getting the actual playoff reps. Now he got it, and he will be better because of it.

But this is also a great reminder to always respect your opponent, the game, and the Basketball Gods. The internet clout isn't worth it, because they are going to make you pay sooner or later. Last night, it was a disastrous blowout Game 5 on your home floor.
