Mayor Eric Adams Tried To Promote New York City's Crowded Beaches As "Our French Riviera" And It Was Maybe The Worst Ad Ever

My parents had Saint Tropez, Cannes, and Monaco. I, a New York City resident, have *checks notes* Coney Island, Rockaway Beach, and Brighton Beach. New York City continually finds ways to embarrass itself and show why it's actually the pit of America, not the city of concrete dreams and a land of opportunity. You may ask "well, why don't you move out of the city then?" to which I would respond have you seen the Barstool NYC office? Chicago could never.

Anyway, what was Eric Adams thinking here? At least use one of those 1950's Coney Island Getty Images that make it look a little more like heaven and less of a needle filled pit of sand. He decided to use a crowded photo that looks more like Woodstock 99 than a fun way to spend a Saturday. The worst part is that he doubled down and said it's the "summer vacation of your dreams" like every single person here working 80 hours a week to make just enough to pay for rent wants to go spend their few minutes away from the office at Coney Island of all places.

There's a reason everyone and their mother leave the city for Memorial Day Weekend and virtually every weekend from now until Labor Day. When your only option is that photo above or walking around a gross city that smells like hot trash, you'd probably find a way to split a 5 bedroom in the Hamptons with 42 other people too. But at least we have our own Saint Tropez located right here in the good ole best city in the country!

Enjoy your MDW.
