Someone on CBS Sports Said the Hawks Should Draft Zach Edey With the No. 1 Pick and Compared Him to Yao Ming

I've seen some truly horrific sports takes in my day and have been flabbergasted and incensed more than a handful of times, so please understand how serious I'm being when I say what I'm about to say: this is not only the worst sports take I've ever heard, it's in contention for the worst idea I've ever heard in my life period. This 36-second video is maybe the best proof available on the internet that some people don't deserve to have opinions and there should be some sort of IQ test administered when you turn 18 to determine if your First Amendment right to free speech will carry into adulthood. This man has literally made me question my belief in the United States Constitution.

I don't even know who this guy is and I can't seem to find anyone else who does either, but he needs to be doing something other than commenting on the NBA at 9 a.m. on a Monday. There's no shame in being an accountant, friend.

He compared Zach Edey to Yao Ming!!! You know, the Hall of Famer who made an All-Star team every single season he played in the NBA. Forget Yao's eight, if Edey plays in one NBA All-Star Game, I will self-immolate in front of the Barstool office.

We're talking about a guy whose entire game was posting up college big guys who are six inches shorter than he is and dropping in little hook shots on the occasions he wasn't sent to the free throw line by college refs who had no idea how to properly officiate him. Somehow, I have my doubts that will continue to work in the NBA against Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid.

I just can't get over the absurdity of this idea. It would unquestionably be the worst draft pick in the history of professional sports, both at the time it was made and 10 years down the line. The fact that it's even been put into the public consciousness is sickening.
