Dumping Them Out: Sports Fan Cosplay
Welcome back to another episode of Dumping Them Out. This is the first time since I've started this groundbreaking blog series that I've written the blog ahead of time (i.e. the Saturday before). There have been plenty of times I should have. But as with most things in my life, I prefer putting my work off until the last minute possible, no matter how much more difficult it makes things for me.
One Sunday I had a 9 hour drive from Bowling Green, Ohio all the way back to Jersey City. I could have written it the day before. I had nothing going the day before. Instead, I opted to wait until Sunday and write it via hot spot from my phone in the passenger's seat of a rental car cramped with 2 dogs and 2 cats. But tomorrow I leave for vacation to the beautiful, exotic, Bethany Beach, Delaware. And by vacation I mean, I'll be doing the same work I always do during a regular work week because I'm too scared to actually take time off. So basically I'll be working from an AirBnB in Delaware next week. Viva.
It's a bit of an inconvenient time to go on vacation, considering it's in the midst of a heated New York Knicks vs Indiana Pacers 2nd round playoff series. A series who's gambling cave live streams I've been sitting in on as a legitimate Pacers fan from the New York office. But in my defense, had I known ahead of time that I was a Pacers fan (or had I known I had an NBA team at all for that matter) I wouldn't have scheduled this vacation. It wasn't until the days leading up to Knicks vs Pacers when I was informed by Picks Central that I was in fact a life-long Pacers fan.
I can see where the confusion lies. I was born in Indiana. I'm an Indianapolis Colts fan. I'm an Indiana Hoosiers fan. I'm also in a Pacers (i.e. CERS) group chat with a handful of other people in the New York office. But I gotta be honest, I've never followed the Pacers. I didn't watch more than 1.5 Pacers games all season long. I loosely watched their first round series against the Bucks. The Pacers group chat I'm in was really just a bit that Vibbs (real Pacers fan) started at the beginning of the season.
I fear being labeled with the dreaded fake fan tag. You're better off at Barstool saying a racial slur live on stream than being caught up in a fake fandom scandal. In hindsight I should have just leaned into it. I should have just threw back an 8-pack of Dave flavored High Noons, bought a full blown Pacers superfan costume, and got right up in the Knicks' fans faces when Nembhard hit that three-pointer he had no business making at the end of Game 3.
If I could have gotten Rico to punch me in the mouth that would have made for an incredible finale to the stream. The New York office could use a good fist fight. I don't know as much about the internet and how to get views as a lot of other people at Barstool, but I do know fist fights are a surefire way to do it. More violence = more views. Damn… I guess I kinda blew that opportunity didn't I… Pacers in 6.

Is the Drake vs Kendrick beef officially over? That really just went in a whole new direction after Drake's security guard got shot didn't it? We really haven't heard shit about that incident sense either. Is the security guard ok? Last thing I saw was a tweet about how the security guard was fighting for his life in the hospital, but I'm assuming he's on the mend by now seeing as we've heard nothing sense. I hope so at least. Since then, multiple other people have apparently tried to break into Drake's home.
Kendrick throwing out the P-word accusations really took the rap beef to a not fun place. Throughout the entire rap beef I was treating the whole thing like it was all some bullshit made up drama for the sake of clicks. But I don't think you go full P-word unless you have legitimate beef. But now the raps have come to a halt and all we're left with is rogue Canadians breaking into Drake's home and trying to kill his security guard. What a bizarre turn to that whole saga.
