FedEx Driver Fired After Dana White's Instagram Story Shows Him Throwing Boxes Into Back of His Truck
Dana White posted the preceding video to his Instagram story earlier this week. Nothing happening here is remotely shocking. Everybody in the world knows that companies like FedEx, UPS, Amazon, etc., handle your packages with anything but care. If they're not your packages, the videos are kind of hilarious. If it is your package, you want the driver thrown in prison and you want FedEx to cut you a $2,000,000 check to pay for damages + the trauma you were forced to endure when you opened up your package to find a small crack in the picture frame you ordered.
Same goes for baggage handlers at the airport. The airport baggage handlers make me angrier. With FedEx you can typically return the damaged item and get a new one no problem. If a baggage handler damages a personal item of yours, you'll die on hold with the airport before getting any sort of retribution.
That being said, I thought nothing of it when Dana White posted his video. It all seemed par for the course for what I expect from FedEx drivers. But this morning I opened up Twitter to find that the employee in Dana's video has officially been fired from his job.
TMZ - The FedEx driver who carelessly tossed over a dozen packages into his truck has been fired by the delivery giant … after Dana White captured the incident on camera before posting it on social media, where it went viral!
"FedEx. We'll get your shit there, but we'll f* it up," White said. "My boy don't give a f*." While Dana and many others online found the video comical, FedEx didn't.
"The behavior depicted in the video is unacceptable and inconsistent with the professionalism FedEx demonstrates every day," FedEx told us.
"We are committed to treating our customers’ packages with the utmost care, and this driver is no longer providing service for our company as a result of this behavior."
It's hard to argue that the employee doesn't deserve it. "Don't heave your customer's packages" is probably the first thing they teach you at FedEx Driver Training Camp. The drivers don't know what's in each box. If every box was labeled, "footballs in here", that'd be a different story. But that's not the case. Drivers are to treat every package like it contains your grandmother's priceless antique vase. This driver was caught red handed doing the opposite. Personally, I feel like they could have given him a strict warning. Maybe suspend him a couple weeks. I bet a two-week suspension, coupled with watching yourself go viral on Dana White's Instagram and having the whole internet dunk on you would be enough of a wakeup call that he'd start using a little more care moving forward. But FedEx wasn't having it. Their driver broke the cardinal rule of package delivery, and he was promptly shown the door. Cold world.
But allow me to advocate for the devil for a minute. Just for the sake or argument. If I were to defend this delivery driver, I would say… fuck Dana White man. This man eats, sleeps, and breathes packages for pennies on the dollar. According to Salary.com, the average FedEx driver in New York City makes just under $61,000 per year. That's not going a long way in New York. This dude probably wakes up every morning at the crack of dawn to make a long ass commute from his tiny apartment deep in New Jersey to the center of Manhattan. All day long he's on and off his feet, dealing with gridlock city traffic in his oversized box truck, getting honked at from every direction. He's busting his ass to get an impossible number of packages to an impossible number of doorsteps in the time allotted so that his douche bag boss doesn't yell at him again. Then maybe if he's really lucky he'll get home at night before his kids are fast asleep.

I don't actually know what being a FedEx driver in NYC is like, but I'm fairly positive it stinks out loud. You think this guy has time to carefully place every little package in the back of his truck? Not a chance. If he did that he'd end up so far behind on his deliveries, and FedEx would get so many complaints about packages arriving late on his route that he'd be fired in a month anyways.
Then of all people… President & CEO of the UFC Dana White… a man worth $500 million… a man who Las Vegas allows to print money at the black jack table for some reason. That man's personal driver just happens to hit a red light directly next to his truck. Dana just has to pull out his phone and take a selfie video. Next thing you know, his 9.3 million Instagram followers are watching you chuck packages as Dana's big stupid bald head laughs like Scott Van Pelt when the Mets blow a two-run lead in the 9th. Three days later you're out of a job.
That's a tough pill to swallow. I can't imagine anybody in the world hates Dana White more than this ex-FedEx driver right now. And that's saying something, because A LOT of people hate Dana White.
However, if you're this delivery driver, you can't go down without a fight. Your back is against the wall, but you do have options. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Dana White cuts you a check. There's a world where Dana sees that you were fired and feels bad that his video caused it. Are you on social media Mr. FedEx Driver? Do you have children to support? Do you have any sick family members or outstanding hospital bills? If so, you need to get that information front and center. Is your son a UFC fan by chance? Is Dustin Poirier his favorite fighter? Did the loss of your job force you to sell your tickets to the upcoming UFC 302: Makhachev vs. Poirier at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ? Maybe throw a post out there detailing all of that. Maybe the post features a photo of your son lying in a hospital bed with his fists up like he's ready to fight a disease. I'm not telling you what to do Mr. Driver, but you have ANY tools at your disposal I suggest you use them. It might be a long shot. You probably don't deserve it. But if you play your cards right this firing could be the best thing that's ever happened to you. Maybe Dana will even take you to the tunnel of chaos some day.
One more thing. I've never delivered packages. But just a tip for the drivers out there. Try sliding the packages instead of throwing them. People don't even expect you to be that careful with their shit. They just don't want to see it go airborne. Just set the package on the floor of your truck, and give it a nice little slide to the back. I feel like that's about as efficient as heaving them. Or at least be inside the truck when you're throwing them around instead of leaving your ass out in the open like that. Dana White is in a new city every day. You never know when he might be filming you.
