Colin Cowherd Is Back At It Again, Claiming JJ Redick Can't Be Taken Seriously As An NBA Head Coach Because He Wore A Backwards Hat On His Podcast

One of the strangest rivalries we have in sports surprisingly has nothing to do with players. While those are fun, nothing, and I mean nothing compares to the longstanding beef of Colin Cowherd vs The Backwards Hat. We've had Larry vs Magic, Manning vs Brady, the list goes on and on and to this day, nothing comes close to this rivalry/beef. It doesn't matter who you are, if you are wearing a backwards hat prepare to feel the wrath of Colin Cowherd

Well, step on down JJ Redick and prepare to enter the arena because Colin has you in his sights and he's ready to bring the heat

Sorry JJ, who cares about your basketball knowledge, your NBA experience, your relationship with players, it all means nothing. Why? How could anyone take you seriously as an NBA head coach if you wear a backwards hat? Did you ever think of that? Who cares about your Xs and Os and your overall basketball philosophy, you know, things that actually matter for an NBA head coach, when you have the audacity to put on a hat and turn it around?

This is a joke…yet this is what Colin Cowherd believes. At first I always thought this was a bit, but seeing as how he's been consistent with this for years now, I'm convinced he truly believes it. Part of me thinks that's what makes it so funny, and it appears JJ Redick agrees

as does his podcast cohost

and hey, if you have questions about JJ Redick as a potential head coach, that's more than fair. But nowhere on that list, or any list really outside of Cowherd's, is his wearing a hat backwards. Don't try and force your brain to make the correlation between the two, because it does not exist

I get that Colin is a master troll and in some ways he's getting what he wants with shit like this, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be called out for it, plus I truly thinks he believes this. It's a take so absurd that he almost has no choice but to double and triple down on it and I do respect that he keeps it consistent regardless of the player or sport. It almost makes you wonder if something traumatic happened to Colin while he was wearing a backwards hat. I'm no therapist, but this seems like a deep-rooted issue. Nobody cares THIS much about how someone wears a hat just out of nowhere. Something happened, and we'll probably never know what it is, but it's clear he'll never get over it.

At this point, I hope Cowherd never stops with this take. I love how he thinks he does something everytime he goes off on a tangent like this, not realizing it gets more and more embarrassing for him every time. Or maybe he does realize and he'll just take the ratings/blogs/viral clips/etc. Not a bad gig if you can get it, but I tend to side with the idea of not being a weirdo.

Because make no mistake, this obsession over people wearing backwards hats is very, very weird.
