The Crowd Booed The Ohio State Commencement Speaker, Who Says He Took Psychedelics To Write His Speech, As He Pitched Bitcoin To Them

Let me say this before I begin: oh how the mighty have fallen. Ohio State loses three straight times to Michigan and all of a sudden we go from locking in former Presidents to give the commencement addresses to social entrepreneurs that sell bracelets for a living. My commencement speaker was 2x Heisman Trophy winner, Archie Griffin. My brother's was Barack Obama. And these poor souls have to listen to this guy, who says he tried ChatGPT to help him write until he settled on psychedelic drugs.

Yeah, this dude just gives me weird vibes. Why did we choose him....? And people are still asking that afterwards, as the boots on the ground reports are saying gave the worst speech of all time, using his platform to pitch his LinkedIn, promote his bracelet business, made them sing "This Little Light of Mine", and what the crowd realllllly hated: pitch Bitcoin.

I want to be on record, so Jack Mac doesn't flame me, that I'm not out on purchasing Bitcoin. I don't understand much about it, but I know that people have made a lot of money off it. I would agree with the good people of Columbus, Ohio though that this type of platform was not the proper time to give his thoughts on Bitcoin as being a "very misunderstood asset class".

“Saving is not enough because inflation exploded after the pandemic which is why everything got so expensive … I see Bitcoin as a very misunderstood asset class,” Pan said. “It is decentralized and finite which means no government can print more at will.”

And as he promoted it, the slideshow was dropping pro Bitcoin graphics like these:

So the crowd proceeded to boo, although many are saying that it wasn't as much a direct shot at Bitcoin as it was another ridiculous addition to an already terrible speech. Either way, the Bitcoin community is loving the booing, as they're laughing at the students coming out of college in thousands of dollars in debt booing someone pitching Bitcoin. "It's so early" is the most common response in all of the replies.

** Interesting development: an Ohio sportstalk radio host has discovered that the brand new Ohio State President sits on a Bitcoin board:

I don't think he'll have to resign, and I don't think the brand new President had much input in this year's speaker, but that's quite the coincidence.
