Shedeur Sanders Went After a Player Who Transferred Out of Colorado and Said Coach Prime Was 'Destroying Guys' Confidence'

There is not a more fascinating team in college football than Colorado. Whether you love them or hate them, they're going to be in the headlines — and today's headline has people talking.

The Athletic talked to some former Colorado players who transferred following Deion Sanders's arrival in Boulder and a couple quotes from DB Xavier Smith made the rounds online. That prompted Shedeur Sanders to respond, calling Smith "very mid at best" and saying he didn't even remember who he was.

Now, whatever you think of what Shedeur said, his response does kind of speak to exactly what Smith was referencing. I'm not saying college football locker rooms need to be all sunshine and rainbows, but Shedeur's response pretty much epitomizes Smith's point. Also, Smith transferred to Austin Peay, where he was an FCS Freshman All-American DB while Colorado finished 124th in the FBS in passing defense. Smith is also now back in the FBS at UTEP. My guess is he could have been at least a pretty solid rotation piece in a secondary that clearly needed some more guys.

I just want to get to September so we can watch this team again and see what the discourse will be in 2024. If they're good, there will be people who are very mad about it. And if they're bad again with two potential Top 10 NFL Draft picks after an offseason full of talking, the discourse is going to be incredible. Either way, I just want to see this team on the field again.
