After Being Met With Relentless Boos, Anthony Rendon Finally Got His First Hit Since Last July And Was Rewarded With a Standing Ovation By The Angel Faithful

Anthony Rendon showed up to Spring Training this year saying baseball wasn't a priority. When you do that and then start the season 0 for 21 while being one of the bigger disaster contracts in baseball history you're gonna feel the wrath of the fans pretty quickly. See below for said wrath.

But later in the game after a Logan O'Hoppe game-tying grand slam something zapped into Rendon's head to try. The result was his first hit of the year and boy was it a beauty.

Baseball Savant couldn't even register an exit velo on the single. Also had a launch angle of -69 degrees, got ahold of that one Anthony!

I did love the ovation the crowd gave him after he got the hit because you know that had to feel good for him. Fans practically bullied him into trying and it paid off. It's been months since he heard a round of applause in his direction. We were headed in a bad direction for the fans and Rendon, still might be, but at least he got a hit.

Me personally, I couldn't understand why Ron Washington was still batting him leadoff but I'm also a bozo. My favorite part was the Angels fans talking about hitting Rendon with the Trea Turner method and giving him a round of applause when he came up to bat. Great idea I guess, couldn't hurt to try right?

Some great acoustics in Anaheim or Los Angeles or wherever the hell they are. That crowd was LOUD when he struck out. But again, it was super loud when he got the hit so the acoustics carry for sure. Monkey off his back, I now expect him to go on a tear, maybe get that average above .150, make a push for the All-Star team as well. Happy for Anthony as he can now say baseball is a top priority again for him since he got his first hit of the season. Angels fans don't really have much to cheer for nowadays, but at least they got to give Rendon a standing O for his hit!
