Power Move: Bob Huggins Knows The Louisville Coaching Search Is Currently A Disaster, Officially Declares Himself A Candidate For The Job

I love this move by Bob Huggins so much, it's perfect. Everyone is making fun of Louisville, no one knows what the hell they are doing with their coaching search. It legit feels like a top candidate pops up every day - we've seen Pat Kelsey, Richard Pitino, Josh Schertz recently. We've had people say names like Otzelberger, Oats, Muss, Tang since Payne was fired. There have been no less than 10 names thrown out there and somewhat tied to the Louisville job.

But you know who was never named? Bob Huggins. That all changes now. He's officially declaring himself a candidate for the Louisville job. It's basically the same as Billy Football running for congress. You gotta put your name out there and let everyone run with it. You can't be considered for a job until you say so yourself. That's rule number 1 in finding a job. I also like to think Huggins does it the old school way. Submits a resume, sends the follow up generic email that every person knows and has done at least once in their life. Lie about being proficient in Excel and everything else like that, leave out some holes in your resume and say you're a perfect fit. Job is yours.

I'd like to think this works. Like Louisville didn't even know about Bob Huggins until this radio interview and the AD gathers for a meeting and starts with a big whoa, we gotta look into this guy! Of course Huggins can coach. This is now what I'm cheering for, I think? I'd love it from a content standpoint. But the lesson as always is you can't find a job unless you name yourself. That's what Huggins is doing here. He saw a hole in the coaching search and decided to strike. Shift all the focus off Richard Pitino and onto him. Perfect.
