I, Bill Cotter, Am Running For Congress. Here Are My Policies.

Many of you may have been blindsided by this post-Friday. I've been holding off fully announcing because running for Congress requires making sure a lot of i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed… but you guys deserve to know that this thing is real. So, I'm here to present my policy to you all as I run for Congress in New York District 3.

I am really actually running for Congress. It is serious, and there has been tons of planning behind the scenes. I was originally planning to launch in a more formal/traditional way to announce my Congressional campaign, but alas, fed up with the traditional approach to politics, I knew the worst action was inaction. Thus, I am formally announcing (via this blog), that I am running for Congress in New York's Third Congressional District.

I know many of you are probably thinking that I am crazy. But, the things going on in this country are absolutely crazy. I have been upset with the way this country has been going for a long time. And I want to do something to help.

This past week, I have been boots on the ground. I have been figuring out how to set my campaign up in the right, fair, and honest way. This complete transparency is my first effort to usher in a new age of politics. These past few days, I’ve built a team, got my paperwork in order, and taking the steps necessary to win this race. And I’m not just hiring others to do it for me, I've been canvassing the district myself, getting signatures in order to get my name on the ballot for a June 25th Republican Primary. That's how I can make this campaign a true reality. I need 1250 valid signatures (by April 4th), and I'll stop at nothing to get there. SHOUTOUT STU FEINER for being one of the first signatures!

I know what you are thinking: "Why the heck do you think you can serve in Congress?" Well, that's one of the problems I believe this country needs to fix: we stopped believing in ourselves. We got to the moon. Why shouldn't every American have the attitude that we can reach for the stars? When did that stop? When did we start to tolerate mediocrity?

I am running for New York's Third District to raise awareness in Congress, at least of issues that affect not only young Americans in NY 3, but all Americans across the country.

Sorry about the wind.

It's been a crazy weekend trying to get signatures; I didn't realize the wind was an issue in the best take till I got home.

Below, you'll find my broad policy points. Stay tuned -- the rest of the website will be up and running in the next few hours. All the money being donated to the campaign cannot be misappropriated for anything except campaign expenses. I cannot just use this money for whatever. My team is working around the clock to get this all set up right, the first time, so we can turn this vision into a reality.

Soon, my website will include a more thorough policy platform, but here are the basics:

Bring Federal Funds Back To NY District 3.

The district pays so much in taxes. I want to be one of the best representatives in Congress who brings funds back to their district. Long Island Railroad and Long Island Express shouldn't crumble while Sun Bums in California get more. Lots of People Are Leaving New York I am Staying to Fix It

Stop Inflation. The Federal Reserve is printing money, and our government is paying for debt with inflation rather than taxes. They’re stealing value out of our wallets because they’re too afraid actually to pay their bills.

Fund the Police. Crime is out of control, and the geniuses in the Democratic Party think the solution is cutting funds to our police. FUND THE POLICE!

Secure the Border. I get why people want to come to America, but they need to do it the right way. We need to shut down the illegal border crossings.

Require Voter I.D. What’s more important for our country, being allowed to buy beer or being allowed to vote?

Balance the Budget. I have a radical proposal… if our government can’t afford to pay for something, it can’t pay for it. Eventually, these bills are going to come due, and we need to get our tab under control. The debt payments are soon going to be bigger than our annual GDP and it will be when most of congress is dead and my generation will be trying to start families.

Simplify and Lower Taxes. Every American should be able to minimize their tax bill without having to hire millions of dollars worth of accountants.

Cut Wasteful Spending. I have another radical proposal… unless the money is being spent on something critical and important, we shouldn’t spend it.

Bring Back Jobs. The big corporations that buy politicians are destroying the middle class in this country by shipping our jobs overseas, all while they improve their profit margins.

Promote Small Business. Mom and Pop shops are what made America great, and we need to make it easier for them to get started and stay in business than to just build another big box store.

Cut Red Tape. Again, Americans should not have to hire millions of dollars worth of attorneys and accountants to comply with the laws and regulations. The rules need to be simple, fair, and understandable.

Hold Big Pharma Accountable. Big Pharma is out of control. We need to make sure American medicine is about getting Americans healthcare, not about maximizing profits for drug manufacturers.

End the Opioid Crisis. Big Pharma got millions of Americans hooked on opioids, and China is flooding our Country with fentanyl. We need to get those addicted the help they need, and hold those responsible accountable. The pandemic set back all the progress that had been made. We need creative solutions like legalizing Ibogaine.

Mental Health Support. Mental health in America is truly in crisis. From the highest rates of anxiety and depression in young people ever recorded to the opioid crisis to suicide rates, America needs a renewed focus on improving mental health. We do this by both addressing the causes driving mental health issues, and improving access to mental healthcare.

Fix the Broken Home Market. The price of homes are increasing faster than wages, and have been for 30 years. Home ownership should be within every American’s reach, and not just part of Americans’ dreams.

Stop Congressmen and their Families From Insider Trading. Is it a coincidence that Nancy Pelosi is not only the top Democrat in Congress, but one of the all-time greatest stock investors? No Congressman (or Congresswoman) should be allowed to trade individual stocks, especially not ones that they are making laws about.

Support the 2nd Amendment. What part of “shall not be infringed” is so hard to understand?

In short, I basically want to stop the bullshit and tackle some of the most pressing issues in this country.

And look, I know I may be young. But, the average age of a Congress representative is around 58 years old. I am 25. If elected, I will represent not only NY3, but also the new generation of Americans who are going to be left with the bill after the current congressmen retire or die.

And don’t even get me started on the corruption in politics. After only a week on the campaign trail, I am already seeing how much corruption and manipulation pollute our democracy. If elected, I will make sure every single American knows about what goes on in the smoke-filled back rooms. I will fight every single day to change that.

No one runs around in the rain all day trying to get signatures missing the NCAA tournament games if they aren't serious. All the money being donated to the campaign cannot be misappropriated for anything except campaign expenses. I cannot just use this money for whatever. Every single donation will be immediately put to work fighting for the people of New York’s 3rd and our shared values.

There will be an event for Registered Republicans in New York's District 3 at Borelli's (1580 Hempstead Tpke, East Meadow, NY 11554) this Thursday, March 28th, from 7-10 PM. More information to come. Stu Feiner will be coming. He is the greatest hype man in the world.

Also, there will be a Long Island Railroad Beers on the Train event on Friday. We will be taking the Huntington Bound train from Grand Central to talk about issues important to Members of New York's District 3. I want to talk policy with the hardworking commuters of District 3. Legit, we will just grab some beers from the RiteAid in Grand Central and talk shop about what you want from your candidate. More details to come.

Some of you probably have some opinion of me, but I just want you to know I am truly doing this for the right reasons. In a weird way, I grew up in front of the Barstool Audience. You have seen me at some of my worst, and now I have an opportunity to show you my best. I truly want to make a difference and feel like I have found a greater purpose in trying to serve the people of New York's Third Congressional District.

I'm Bill Cotter, and I want to be your voice in Congress. This isn't a bit -- I'm 100% dedicated to the cause. But to make it happen, I need your help. Visit billcotterforcongress.com in a few hours, read more about what I will do and why you can trust me with your vote.
