Do Not Let Anyone Tell You The NCAA Tournament Needs To Expand Because This Year's Conference Tournaments Were A Shitshow

I wanted to get this out there on the blog, ahead of the bracket reveal, while I see people getting mad already. That's fine actually, be mad. I want people mad their team or a team they thought should be in the NCAA Tournament is left out. It's going to happen, because it happens every year. Now, this year is obviously a little more crazy. We've had a disaster of a week if you are a fan of a team near the bubble. Oregon, the A-10, New Mexico, the AAC and North Carolina State all stole a bid or at least in New Mexico's case took them off the bubble with the auto bid. Me personally? I love it. It's the mayhem we want during conference tournament week, a week people are trying to get rid of.

Just some examples of what is out there

Imagine if we had this sort of week with the field expanded? It'd be meaningless. Sure, upsets are still cool and a couple teams will still steal a bid (see NC State and Oregon) but instead of teams missing the Tournament we'd be like oh they are just a 13 seed now since there are 18 seeds in a region. I don't want to lose the true sweat of Selection Sunday. I don't want to miss the arguments I see all over Twitter right now. The fact that the Big East might only get 3 teams in? Come on. That'd be fucking insane. What do you do with Ohio State? People are really confident Florida Atlantic is in the field? Why? These are debates happening in the college basketball world right now and how it should be when you have mayhem. 

We're going to see things we've never seen before. The First Four could have 10 seeds playing in it. Some of the 16 seeds are going to be the 'worst' we've seen. It's why I don't want to lose this week. This is where the NCAA Tournament starts. You win, you play on. Lose and potentially go home depending who you are. Everyone has the same chance to make the NCAA Tournament - you win your league. 

I've just seen too many people already talking about how this will lead to expansion talk. Fuck that. Don't want to be on the bubble? Win more games. Don't lose quad 4 games. Win your conference tournament. There's your answer.
