Throwback Thursday - Audioslave - Like A Stone

"Like a Stone" is a powerful, haunting ballad by Audioslave, marked by its deep, contemplative lyrics and a mesmerizing guitar melody. Released as part of their 2002 self-titled debut album, the song showcases Chris Cornell's incredible vocal range, set against the backdrop of Tom Morello's distinctive guitar riffs.

Peaking at number one on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, "Like a Stone" solidified its place as a timeless classic, embodying the band's unique ability to blend hard rock with introspective lyricism.

That, and Chris Cornell is a rock god. One of the greatest voices of all time.

Audioslave was a supergroup that thundered onto the music scene in the early 2000s, blending the hard-hitting rock sound of Rage Against the Machine with the soulful, iconic vocals of Soundgarden's Chris Cornell. Formed in 2001, the band consisted of Cornell as the lead vocalist, and Rage Against the Machine members Tom Morello on guitar, Tim Commerford on bass, and Brad Wilk on drums.

The fusion of Cornell's expansive vocal range and the precise, innovative instrumentals of Morello, Commerford, and Wilk created a sound that was both fresh and familiar, earning Audioslave critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase. Their self-titled debut album in 2002 spawned hits like "Cochise," "Like a Stone," and "Show Me How to Live," quickly cementing their place in rock history.

The band parted ways in 2007, with members pursuing individual projects. Audioslave left behind a legacy of bridging the gaps between genres, generations, and fans everywhere.

I'm on a mission to get these going again on Thursdays and build our Backstage spotify account come hell or high water.

Throw some suggestions in the comments and keep on rockin in the free world.
