Starting To Look Like Full Speed Ahead For The Bears Building A Dome Stadium On The Lake Front

To make the stadium more attractive, the team is also proposing infrastructure improvements that would better connect the entire museum campus to the city’s grid and Northerly Island. While the city has long sought improvements to the campus, the infrastructure would likely add hundreds of millions to the total taxpayer tab to support a new stadium.

To help arrange the complex financial deal, the Bears are working with banking giant Goldman Sachs and have retained attorneys from Sidley Austin, a Chicago-based global law firm with a large sports practice.

Hey Bears, just build a stadium. I don't even care anymore. Make it sweet. Make it worthy of the biggest market with only one team. Make it worthy of the franchise that started the league.

I am going to be furious about this whole thing though. If the Bears bought Arlington only to tear it down the track and then end up right back where they started that should be a crime. Watch the Bears turn around and sell it to some Goldman Sachs backed real estate group who is going to turn that entire property into another subdivision for the upper middle class. Brutal.

I've also heard that the Bears and Sox can't both be in the South Loop because of some state regulations around stadiums. I am sure the people in the Arlington Heights know about that as well. Feels like one big game of chicken. The Bears know they need to own their own stadium. They paid $200M for the Arlington Park land. Everyone stop pissing around and penny pinching and just get a deal down.
