Future Hall Of Famer Mike Evans Re-Signs With Buccaneers, Paving His Way To Break Long-Standing NFL Record In A Tampa Bay Uniform

There was some worry this off-season that Mike Evans had played his last game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was GM Jason Licht's first draft pick, going 8th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft and Evans had re-worked and re-signed many contracts with the Buccaneers to help them make room for other free agents and help the team improve their roster.

But when the time came to pay #13, the Bucs were in a tough position. Prior to the 2023 season, Evans wanted to be paid like a top 10 Receiver. As a guy who had previously taken hometown discounts, he felt he was deserving of one final huge deal. However, the two sides were far apart before the season and rumors swirled this would be Evans last dance in pewter and red.

All Evans did this season was put up the third most catches, third most yards, and second most touchdowns of his career eclipsing 1,000+ receiving yards for a record 10th straight season to start a career. 

He clearly has his sights set on Jerry Rice's record of 11 straight seasons of 1,000+ overall and can now break that as a Buccaneer, assuming he stays healthy.

Evans has been a team-leader for years and losing that would've been a massive blow.

But his production on the field is clearly irreplaceable. He's still getting it done at age 30.
