More Proof The AP Top-25 Is Worthless: Voter Puts 14-14 Arizona State At No. 9, Gets Made Fun Of For It, Mysteriously Removes Them From His Ballot

I've long screamed that the AP Top-25 is worthless. It really is, you have a bunch of writers from all over the country who aren't exactly tuned into the sport voting on teams on a weekly basis. But this? This is the most bizarre thing I've seen in the voting process. It wasn't a mistake like meaning to put Arizona, he had Arizona ranked No. 6 already! It wasn't accidentally typing in Devils, he had Duke at No. 11! The team next to them would be Auburn, he had them ranked too!

It makes no sense!

Naturally he got dragged for it, as anyone should. But instead of explaining what happened he's now gone back and removed them from his ballot, sliding everyone up a spot. You can do that? Can we bully more people into making ballots that use common sense? Just this week alone we have this going on:

The fact that in late February we have people overreacting to one game instead of looking at an entire season is why the AP Poll is a joke. The fact we have people just not submit a ballot or dropping teams who win, whatever it might be, the whole thing is a joke. I know people still want to put that little number next to a team name and yell about how teams are ranked and all that stuff. Fine. Just get people who actually watch games to do it. I don't even know why we still use this ranking system. It has no impact on the Tournament. It has no impact on the sport besides being able to send out a weekly graphic, but you can do that with anything.

Congrats to Bobby Hurley though. You're on the receiving votes portion of the AP poll. Can use that in a negotiation tactic with DePaul. Also helps take the sting of losing to Arizona by 45 away. It's the small victories.
