What A Week For Kansas City! A Super Bowl Win, Bobby Witt Jr. Extension, And Brand Spanking New State Of The Art Ballpark Announced

What a time to be a fan of the Kansas City teams. Just watched the best player ever win ANOTHER Super Bowl, you inked your superstar shortstop to a mega deal and now you get the state of the art ballpark in downtown Kansas City. What a damn week.

The Royals had renderings of their proposed new ballparks released a few months back but this week we got the official proposal and exact location of the ballpark and they look awesome. Right in the heart of downtown with what looks to be a bridge and walkways connecting the ballpark and the T-Mobil Entertainment Center. Yeah, sign me up for that, this looks like a good time all around. Ballparks down in the heart of the city are just so awesome, the way they mold the ballparks around the buildings and all that, it fits baseball so well.

Just look at that second picture, that looks absolutely electric. The Royals are going to be good soon, they'e got some guys and that obviously includes Bobby Witt Jr. This is going to be his house, no doubt about it. The house that Bobby built. Everything about it just looks so damn sick, it's going to be a smaller ballpark too. Only 34,000 seats and I think this is the new trend, no one needs 48K seat ballparks anymore. Make them smaller, sell out more often, louder environment, fans are right on top, the Royals did it right here. I bet we start seeing a lot of this going forward. They're doing the new thing everyone wants to do, build these entertainment areas all around the ballpark. Hotels, casinos (#DKPartner), restaurants, everything you could ever need. Ballparks aren't just baseball cathedrals anymore, they're now becoming the center hub for entertainment.

One big miss....where is the KC Crown scoreboard?

How do you not bring the crown?!?! It's one of my favorite things in baseball, it's a great, classic look. I love how they continue with the open outfield, allows you to see out into the city and not feel so enclosed. You can see in some of the renderings that they did bring the fountains. That is 1000000% a must. The fountains are a staple of Kauffman Stadium, love any chance at a splashdown home run. And just sliding the fountains around center field looks so cool, that will be an awesome feature if it actually happens. Good for KC for reading the room and keeping that tradition going. It looks like the perfect area, it was the only proposed site that wouldn't require highway construction and improvements, so that sounds like a win too. The massive scoreboard in CF is perfect, and again I just love how open the entire outfield is.

They want it to be ready by Opening Day 2028 and you can count on Patrick Mahomes throwing out the first pitch after winning yet another Super Bowl. He'll throw the first pitch to Bobby Witt Jr. and all of KC will start openly weeping. What a scene that will be. Hopefully they can officially lock this location down and get to digging. This looks like it's going to be an incredible ballpark to visit and go see. Locking down your stud SS, another ring for Mahomes, and a new stadium. Save some sports wins for the rest of us.
