I'm not sure about anyone else, but it still feels pretty crazy to me that it's been 4 years since Kobe's passing. I know that whole time period of covid and quarantining sort of warped all of our brains, but man I remember it like it was yesterday.  Even to this day, I can feel myself still getting emotional when thinking about that tragedy. It still seems so surreal and probably always will.

With it being 2/8/24, it meant that today was the day we would finally see Kobe's statue(s)

If that pose looks familiar to you, it's because that was Kobe as he was walking off the court after scoring 81 against the Raptors

and frankly I think it's a perfect choice. There were a couple of options to choose from, but I think it's awesome that Kobe knew a statue was coming and he decided on the look before he passed. Sometimes these things don't end up looking all that great, but that's not the case here. I'm not sure I would change a thing.

I think it goes without saying, Kobe Bryant most definitely left the game a legend. One of the best to ever do it, there will never be another Kobe, and I truly believe that. Sure guys may have similar stats or win as many titles, but they won't be Kobe, and I say this as someone who has spent my entire life despising the Lakers. The guy was just different, a true 1 of 1 player.

So it's only fitting that his statue be awesome as well, and for my money they knocked it out of the park
