The Philadelphia Eagles Open The 2024 Season On A Friday Night At Home...In Brazil???
PFT - The NFL’s first game in Brazil will be the second game of the 2024 season. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed today that the league will play a regular-season game in Brazil on Friday, September 6, the day after the traditional Thursday night opener that will be hosted by either the Chiefs or 49ers. “We’re going to do it on our Kickoff Weekend, which is an unusual approach,” Goodell said. “We’re actually going to do it on Friday night of our Kickoff Weekend.” The Eagles will be the home team for the game, which will be at Corinthians Arena, home to Brazilian soccer team SC Corinthians, in São Paulo, Brazil. It’s the first NFL game in South America, and playing on a Friday night in Week One is also something the NFL is doing for the first time since 1970.
Awesome. Steller use of a home game meant for South Philly. I'm sure tens of thousands of Eagles season ticket holders who base their entire existence around the franchise absolutely LOVE the idea of losing a home opening game/tailgate to Brazil. Then again, it's not like a thousands miles, lack of money/passport/idea of how to even obtain a passport, and/or being on the No Fly List will stop anyone. You damn well know the Legions Of Green will still migrate all the way down to South America for the Birds. Why? Because that's what Eagles fans do. The loyalty knows no borders. It doesn't matter if the game is played in South Philly, NY, Dallas, Cali, London, South America, or on the damn moon. Eagles fans will flock to the cause. Time to get cultured, I suppose. How do you say "Wooder" in "South American"? Google Translate from Delco to Portuguese might just crash the entire system. Corre a maldita bola!!! Dallas suga o suor das bolas de um homem morto!!! Señor Nick Foles nem está na América do Sul e de alguma forma ainda tem o maior pau do continente!!!
Merrill Reese is approaching 1000 and is still fantastic, but the calls on the Portuguese broadcase will be second to none. Football in foreign languages just hit a little harder. EVIDENCE A: The Double Doink call. It's Spanish, but close enough Portuguese to get the idea. No Señor! No Señor! No Señor!!!
