"Just Let Us Do What We Do" - DeVonta Smith Has A Foolproof Plan For Kellen Moore To Not Suck At His Job As Eagles OC

Kellen Moore is coming into Philadelphia with a shit ton of pressure and expectations. He's being tasked with completely revamping an offense that went as stale as 3-week old bread last season. He's coming into Philly with the keys to completely implement his own offense, and answer to nobody besides himself when it comes to play calling. The Eagles have so many weapons on offense. Jalen Hurts still has all the potential in the world, the offensive line might not be quite as dominant as they've been before but they're still one of the best units in football, and they have multiple 1000+ yard receivers on the field at all times. If the offense continues to stall out next year, the blame goes squarely on Kellen Moore's massive head.

DeVonta Smith doesn't want to see that happen. DeVonta Smith doesn't want to have to go through a 4th offensive coordinator in 4 seasons. He wants Kellen Moore to succeed. He wants Kellen Moore to stick around. So what's the easiest way to make that happen?

Seems simple enough to me. Get the ball to the most electric 2 players the Eagles have on the field. Boom. Case solved.

Now mind you that DeVonta didn't necessarily say anything about how you get them the ball. He's not asking for 50-yard bombs every possession to try to either hit a home run or draw a penalty. All he's saying is that he'd probably rather get the ball on a few 5-yard slants as opposed to being asked to block on bullshit bubble screens every other play. Wonder why the last guy couldn't grasp that concept, but I guess we'll never know.

The only thing that worries me about this request from DeVonta is that I don't think Kellen Moore needs to be told twice to throw the ball in his offense. He often completely forgets that the running back position even exists in the first place. I know it's a galaxy brain concept that literally nobody else in the world has ever considered before, but perhaps sometimes establishing the run game can help open up the passing game. And the more opened up the passing game gets, the easier it becomes to get the ball to guys like DeVonta and AJ. So I don't want Kellen Moore hearing this clip and just deciding it's going to be a deep ball to Smitty every play.

Either way, getting the ball to those guys as opposed to not just seems like a great place for this new Eagles' offense to start. If Kellen Moore doesn't work out, we could always just have DeVonta Smith be a player/offensive coordinator for the rest of the season.
