Coach Cal Simply Saying 'This Stinks' After Kentucky Pathetically Blew Another Game Has Killed Everything I've Ever Believed About This Program

It takes a lot for me to be speechless when it comes to Kentucky basketball. I'm currently there. I don't care that DJ Wagner, Justin Edwards and Adou Thiero were all hurt. I don't care that it's a January regular season game which everyone always screams is pointless. It's the fact that Kentucky lost at home to a team that is on the bubble. That doesn't happen at Kentucky. Let me be more specific or clear, that shouldn't happen at Kentucky. I lived through the end of the Tubby era. I lived through the Billy G era. It was sad, pathetic, whatever synonym you want to use here.

Speaking of which. This can't happen:

Forget the foul up 3 argument when there's 13 seconds to go. They should have fouled the moment the dude picked up his dribble and was stuck inside the arc. There were under 7 seconds at that point. A no brainer. But an even bigger no-brainer. NOT LEAVING THE ONE FUCKING GUY WHO ONLY HIT ALL THE THREES TONIGHT WHEN YOU'RE UP THREE. I mean, shit, you learn that the moment people start to keep score in basketball. Reed Sheppard was awesome on offense, but this is as bad of a mistake as you'll ever see. You're up 3 and left the guy who was on fire.

What the fuck man.

It's more than just that too. It's the lack of hitting the kill shot. It was fucking around at the end of the first half when you're up 10 and Rob Dillingham launches two terrible shots to let Florida go into halftime down 5. It's blowing a game at home. We're not that far removed from Kentucky going undefeated at home, sure not looking great every game, but it didn't matter. They found ways to win. That's gone.

Saying it stinks shouldn't be something said at Kentucky outside of like the 1997 overtime loss in the title game. You were up 4 with 37 seconds to go. Dillingham, a damn good free throw shooter can't make 2 to keep the lead at 4 with 13 seconds. You do this and then just shit the bed in overtime.

The lore of Kentucky and everything about Rupp Arena is gone. This team needs to figure out how the fuck to get a stop when they need it and how to win these games before it's another early loss in the NCAA Tournament. Don't get me wrong I'm going to lose my mind watching this team and forever go down with this ship, I'm just sick of seeing losses like these. Tennessee, Gonzaga and Auburn the next 3 Saturday's. You better win.
