Jimmy Flick (Basically Khabib Mixed With Demian Maia) Got The Finishes Started Early At UFC 297 - And We're Now 4/4* On Submissions!

The UFC is LIVE for their first PPV card of the year from Toronto, Canada (headlined by Sean Strickland vs Dricus Du Plessis) - and we're 3-for-3 on submissions already tonight!

Jimmy Flick got things started early in the first fight of the night, defeating Canada's own Malcolm Gordon in the second round....

....and Flick proved the Double Vodka Don right in what was a bit of a harsh/blunt breakdown from Ev....

Mean? Maybe, but he was correct! You shouldn't have laid -200 on Gordon! He was going up against the perfect fighter - a mix of Khabib and Demian Maia!

What a legend.

In the next prelim, Jasmine Jasudavicius beat the everliving fuck out of Priscila Cachoeira for three rounds before getting a D'arce choke - setting a new UFC record in the process, for biggest discrepancy in strikes….

303 to 22 total strikes sounds like a fake stat, but I assure you - it's real. This picture of Cachoeira after the fight says it all….

I think Jasudavicius closed around -375/-400 ML, but clearly she should've been in the -800/-1000 range. Just a horrible mismatch here. We even got a rare 10-7 in Round 2!

Then Sam Patterson went in and made professional fighting look like the easiest profession in the world when he submitted Yohan Lainesse without breaking a sweat….

He made it look easy and picked up his first ever UFC win there - being he was KO'd by Israel's Yanal Ashmouz in his debut this past March - and said 170lbs is where he plans to stay. He was somehow making 155lbs at 6'3" which is absurd.

It should be a great card tonight, and Drake will be in attendance with $700k on Strickland in the main event if you care about that sorta thing….

I'll be going live with JackMac and Big Ev right after the main event to break down the whole pay-per-view on the Spinnin Backfist MMA Show as well, so look out for that. I'll share the link in my upcoming blogs tonight.

UPDATE: We're now 4/4 thanks to another Canadian in Gillian Robertson….

Here's a little fun fact for ya: Gillian Robertson was at the infamous Rough N Rowdy/Blackout Tour SuperBowl Party in Miami that flooded immediately after the RNR main event, leaving Shooter McGavin stranded….

The UFC asked for both Gillian Robertson and Yoel Romero on the guest list that night. I don't know if Yoel ever showed up but I'm glad that everyone got home safe. Shit was like a war zone.
