We Just Got The Trailer For "Spaceman" Which Features Adam Sandler As An Astronaut, And It Looks Promising

I really like this stage of Adam Sandler's career that we're in right now. I could be wrong about this, but it seems like he's moved on from doing the stupid, embarrassing comedies he was doing for a long time. Don't get me wrong, there are some hilarious Adam Sandler movies, but there was a period there in the 2010s where he wasn't exactly hitting home runs. If feels like he dug the vibe he got after his performance and uncut gems and is taking on some more serious projects. We just got the trailer for his new movie "Spaceman" from the Director of "Chernobyl," and it looks pretty intriguing.

Seeing Sandler do dramatic work always raises a few eyebrows, but I'm excited about this because of the Director, Johan Renck. Renck is responsible for directing the 2019 miniseries "Chernobyl." I am speaking as somebody who isn't a huge fan of most TV shows, but I thought "Chernobyl" was one of those brilliant things I've ever seen. When you look at the way that that story played out and how it was directed, I feel like Reneck is perfect for directing a movie that takes place in space. The one thing you have to capture with any space movie is the atmosphere. It feels like we're getting that creepy environment with this.

This trailer ultra features Paul Dano as...an alien. A spider? It's a little unclear, but Paul Dano has been on a heater lately. I have to go back and check, but I think he's one of those actors who has not been in many bad movies. He's usually pretty selective and good with his project. Carey Mulligan is also in this—her performance in "Promising Young Woman" was one of the best performances I've ever seen. I'll watch her in anything after seeing her in that.

I'm not going to act like movies in space haven't always been relatively popular, but it feels like we get one big space movie every year since "Gravity" came out. We will get two this year, with the movie "I.S.S." coming out this weekend. This movie will be released on Netflix in a few months, making me more inclined to see it. I like the fact that this trailer doesn't give away too much. I've seen that a lot with movies lately, where they're trying so hard to sell you on the premise that they end up giving away the movie's entire plot in a three-minute trailer. This does what a trailer should do. It gives me just enough to keep me intrigued without explaining every detail. For Adam Sandler's sake, I do hope it's good. I like seeing him in movies like this. We know he can be a dramatic actor, and hopefully, he'll take on more roles like this.
