ANNOUNCEMENT - Last Night's Ass Kicking And One Specific Moment Officially Ended The Kentucky/Louisville Rivalry

I take no joy in writing this. It's why I slept on it, thought about it long and hard. I talked to dozens if not hundreds of people with ties to Kentucky and Louisville. I paced around the house, palms sweaty, wearing a sweater and have come to this conclusion. The once proud, the once true hatred, the once competitive Kentucky/Louisville rivalry is dead. It's over.

Let's investigate because it's more than a ho-hum-95-76 win. It's more than Antonio Reeves scoring 30. It's more than scoring 95 despite DJ Wagner and Aaron Bradshaw combining for 4 points. It's more than playing the walk-ons. Here's what we're working with in the Cal era against Louisville:

That's about as much blue as we saw in Yum! last night. Here's the difference though. Those shit UK teams who lost? It's a one possession game. We actually showed heart and refused to roll over and die against a rival. Louisville though? A few 20-point losses, some more double digit losses. It ain't even competitive anymore. It doesn't matter who was the coach at Louisville - Pitino, Mack, Kenny Payne. It's basically an automatic win and how Kenny Payne is, it's basically a buy game at this point. Speaking of Mack, has anyone ever looked dumber than this video claiming Kenny Payne won all those games for Calipari?

Don't think it's really adding up there! Anywho, back to the death of the rivalry. Kentucky has to talk about Louisville like they are trying really hard. It's basically JV talk:

Will I always hate Louisville? Of course, it's in the blood when you go to Kentucky and vice versa. But the basketball rivalry is dead. It's over. This is how bad Louisville is. You can't have opposing fans come into your building and take it over like that. That doesn't happen in rivalries, no matter how great one side (blue) is vs the other. No matter how great one fanbase (blue) is vs the other.

Cute red out though. Sure did work! Extend Kenny Payne.

PS: Cats are back baby. We're good.
