CBS Can't Find A Host For The Golden Globes Because Everyone Is Afraid Of Getting Punched In The Mouth By Will Smith

Source - The 2024 Golden Globes announced the nominations on Monday, but one major category was missing: host.

The ceremony is fast approaching, as it’s set for Jan. 7 (at 8 p.m. on CBS), and there’s been no celeb emcee announced.

Chris Rock has declined the offer to host, along with four other A-list comedians, according to CNN. Rock could be gun-shy after he infamously got slapped on live TV by Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars.

But comedian and “Beef” star Ali Wong also was approached and declined the gig, sources told the outlet, and Will Arnett, Sean Hayes and Jason Bateman, who co-host the podcast “SmartLess,” reportedly turned down a joint offer to host, too.

Regarding the possibility of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, who successfully co-hosted the Golden Globes four times in the past, “They would never do it (again),” a source close to Poehler and Fey told the outlet. “They’re done.”

That has to be it, right? Will Smith ruined the Golden Globes for everyone. Not that they were anything to write home about before, but the fact that his slap has single handedly deterred potential hosts from even wanting to participate just goes to show how over the award shows were to begin with. No one cares. Not even the viewer. Think about it...when is the last time you've walked away from an award show and said, "wow that was great?" Or better yet, when was the last time you walked away from an award show and said "wow that host was great?" You haven't. At least not since 2020 when Ricky Gervais was at the helm, but he had to stop because he hurt peoples feelings. Wah. Wah. Wah.

CBS will most likely use someone who already works for them which I'm sure will be just lovely. Here's who's on the short list...

It’s possible that since the Globes will air on CBS this year, the network will tap in-house talent, such as  Stephen Colbert, Taylor Tomlinson (who will host the new show “After Midnight,” filling James Cordon’s time slot) or “The Neighborhood” stars Cedric the Entertainer or Max Greenfield (but, Cedric the Entertainer hosted the announcement of the nominations, so it’s unlikely he would do two Globes-related gigs in a row).

Gross. Although I guess Cedric The Entertainer wouldn't be bad if he was the old version of himself. Not the network TV Cedric which seems highly unlikely. Anyway, the list of nominees came out today if you wanna Google that. I'm not going to put it in the blog because I feel like none of you care, but I WILL put a Ricky Gervais compilation roast compilation below. Enjoy...
