Navy's Potential Game-Tying Drive Ends Inside the 1-Yard Line With 3 Seconds Left

Holy shit, what a final drive to end the Army-Navy game.

Army seemingly had the game wrapped up, leading 17-3 with 3:00 to go before Navy scored a touchdown to cut the lead to 17-9 and then got the ball back and dinked and dunked its way down the field — the Black Knights seemed unaware those 12-yard passes were adding up — to have a chance to extend the game. The Midshipmen got all the way down to the 2-yard line on 4th and goal and ended up about a foot short of a touchdown that would have given them a two-point conversion for a shot at overtime.

Navy tried a tush push as soon as the ball was set rather than taking its time and running something more exotic and quarterback Tai Lavatai came up just a few inches short of the end zone.

It seems like it doesn't matter what the teams' records are or how the first three quarters of the game go, it's going to end up being a one-possession game with whoever's down having a chance at the end. Army-Navy always delivers.
