Even More NYC Facts For Your Sunday Morning

Here are some places I've visited in New York City and facts about them. I've been doing over the past year and I've blogged some other spots too. If for some reason you got dragged Christmas shopping on an NFL Sunday, maybe these can be a distraction while you are waiting in line.

I had no idea that Macy's had been sponsoring the parade since its inception. I also had no idea about Ragamuffin Day. Must have been great to have been those kids who grew up when both holidays still existed.

Sometimes when I do these, I at least have an idea of something huge happening at a location before I even look anything up. But, I had no idea such a horrible tragedy happened on the East River. It's crazy how much the popularity of the Titanic just erased this story from the history books.

Having a mic would have been helpful on this one. Since I recorded this video, they have made an improvement to the tram. You can now use the credit card/OMNY option.

I worked right on this street about 10 years ago and would walk by this statue all the time. The different locations or situations of presidential inaugurations has always interested me. I also love how they use this area in The Dark Knight Rises.

Another clip that really could have used a mic. This area of Roosevelt Island is very interesting. Right near the Smallpox Hospital is a laboratory, a cat sanctuary and a park dedicated to Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Hopefully this helped you kill 10 minutes in some store you don't want to be in or some chore you have no interest in running.
