Caleb Williams Saying He's A 'Game Time Decision' On Whether He'll Enter The NFL Draft Has To Be A Lie So He Can Dictate Where He Goes

Come on, I'm too old to fall for a lie. We've seen plenty of top picks do something along these lines. Tease they are coming back to school, demand they won't play for a certain team (thanks, Eli!) and everything else. Why would Caleb Williams come back? Even in the NIL era we're talking about the likely No. 1 pick here. At worst he's going top-3, no matter what you think of him or what he did at USC.

Also why would you want to go back to USC? They stunk this year. 7-5? P.U. Again, I understand maybe you feel like you can make a 12-team playoff and get hot at the right time, but why risk a top-3 pick? This isn't a fringe first rounder or anything like that. He already won a Heisman, he already cried in the stands, he already did everything besides the playoffs at USC. That can't be a big enough reason to come back to college and pass up the millions a top-3 pick gets.

We've seen all the stories about Caleb Williams. The rumor that he wanted partial ownership of whatever team drafted him, a list of teams he'd play for, whatever it might be. This has to be a power move to try and dictate who ends up taking him. Again, I don't blame guys for trying to do that. You don't want to go to a dogshit organization like the Panthers. Doesn't help a team like the Vikings ended up getting hot and played themselves out of a top pick. The Cardinals? Sure, that could be an okay spot to go.

Either way, I don't buy this. He can say he's a game-time decision but there's no point in coming back to school. It make no sense. I know there's a chance I could be wrong here, but fuck it. I don't buy it. Yeah, his dad teased him coming back to USC if they didn't like who had the top pick but there are other options! We've seen it play out before the other way. Just threaten you won't play, you won't be the first or last to do it.
