Charles Woodson Celebrating As Urban Meyer Sulks Is One Of The Best Clips Ever From The Michigan/Ohio State Game

If you follow my content long enough, you know that I’m really not that big of a trash talker. I accept my wins graciously, and I take my losses graciously. I’ve seen many losses in my time that broke my heart, and I don’t really like having salt rubbed in my wound. With that said, this year‘s Ohio State game changed some of that for me. I try to be both gracious in defeat and victory, but if you’re going to bitch to the Big Ten office about a team taking your signals when they beat you, you best make damn sure that you come correct the next time you play them, and Ohio State still fucking lost to an assistant coach. This is one of those checkpoints in the rivalry that will never get old. Michigan will always have this claim.

One million videos have come out of fans reacting to this year’s version of the game, but this clip of Charles Woodson and Urban Meyer is easily my favorite. As much as it pains me to admit it, I do have an insane amount of respect for Urban Meyer. Michigan never beat him. Harbaugh never beat him. The guy won National Championships. He’s one of the most successful coaches in college football history, but I’d be lying if I didn’t take incredible joy watching him sulk, and I have to explain every year why Ohio State keeps fumbling this game away. Remember last year when he said that Ohio State would stop the run? God, these really are the good old days.

I don't know if there's any Michigan athlete ever with a higher approval rating than Charles Woodson. The guy won the Heisman primarily as a defensive player, had an NFL Hall of Fame career, won a National Championship and a Super Bowl. You could make an argument that Charles Woodson is probably one of the five most accomplished football players of all time. And the guy's just fucking cool. He's been retired for years, and he still looks like he could play and lock up another team's WR1.

Woodson actually has a lot in common with the current Michigan senior class in that he doesn't know what it feels like to lose to Ohio State. Woodson played three years at Michigan. In '95 and '96, Michigan upset undefeated Ohio State teams. In 1997, they knocked off a top five OSU team en route to their shared national championship. This current crop of Michigan seniors didn't play against Ohio State in 2020 because of Covid and has won the next three matchups.

I've said it before, but I really forgot how good it feels to win this game. I think the fans and the players did, too. There have been some great Michigan players who rewrote the record books at U-M that never had the opportunity to be Ohio State. If you have a great career at Michigan, we'll love you forever, but you're a legend if you beat the Buckeyes a few times. This group of seniors is legendary.

You know what else is legendary? Barstool's Cyber Monday sale. 20% off all merch plus the annual telethon followed by the premiere of the new Survivng Barstool, which sounds like it will be legendary as well.
