Giants Starting QB Tommy DeVito Revealed He Still Lives At Home With His Parents Where They Cook, Clean, And Make His Bed For Him As Big Blue's Season Of Absurdity Continues

ESPN- The question was posed to New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley very clearly. What do you think of your starting quarterback living at home? "Living at home?" Barkley asked quizzically.  When informed by ESPN that this week's starting Giants quarterback, New Jersey native Tommy DeVito, was living at home, Barkley asked with whom.

With his parents, of course. "For real?" Barkley said with a chuckle, unaware that DeVito was playing for the Giants while living in his childhood home in Cedar Grove, N.J., nine miles away from the team's practice facility and stadium.

It makes sense that DeVito lives at home, given the situation. He is a rookie, an undrafted free agent, playing for his hometown team. He's a Don Bosco Prep High School star who wasn't even sure he would be on the roster this season after six collegiate years, the final being at the University of Illinois.

"It was a no-brainer for me," DeVito told ESPN about living with his parents. "Everything that I need is there at the house. The decision was made since this level of football is stressful for a rookie, especially from the quarterback position. There is a lot going on, a lot of meetings. So everything outside of football is handled by my family.

"I don't have to worry about laundry, what I'm eating for dinner, chicken cutlets and all that is waiting for me when I get there. My mom still makes my bed. Everything is handled for me. Honestly, I don't even know if I could find a place closer to here than where I live. It takes me 12 minutes to get here."

You know what? I thought the Giants were completely fucked once Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor went down in back-to-back weeks. But it appears things may be alright after all considering Tommy DeVito has this whole life thing more figured out than any of us!

Playing quarterback in the NFL is undoubtedly one of the hardest things you can do as a pro athlete, let alone as a rookie. But being able to put the rest of your life on Rookie Mode by living with your parents is the great equalizer. You don't have to worry about shit when you are in that fantasy world. Cooking, cleaning, dishes...NOTHING! It's all covered for you along with utilities for the very fair price of zero dollars, which is a huuuuuge win in this economy.

I admittedly was skeptical about Tommy DeVito being the Giants QB1 after I watched him throw for -1 yard against the Jets in person during what was the worst game of Giants or Jets football I have ever witnessed, which is saying something. But knowing that Mama and Papa DeVito will be taking care of every little thing off the field makes me feel good about him being QB moving forward.

Okay, good isn't the word because I have a steadfast rule that you can't be a leader of men on the field if you don't even have rights to the big piece of chicken or remote control in your own house. But it's nice to know that Tommy doesn't have to worry about the little things off the field while preparing for the Cowboys defense that shut out the Giants on the way to putting up a 40 burger on the G-Men when they actually had most of their team healthy. Plus Tommy isn't an ordinary rookie considering he played college football for more than half a decade. Lots of people go to college for six years!

Shut up, Richard!

This is the part of the blog where my dumb optimistic sports fan brain would usually spinzone this entire dire situation with Tommy riding his legendary high school alma mater, Mama DeVito's chicken cutlets, and his name being the same as Joe Pesci's character in Goodfellas being exactly what the Giants need to go on a New Jersey fairytale run. But I don't have the energy for that after watching this team this year let alone for the last decade.

So instead I am going to wish Tommy the best, hope his parents don't have to clean out too much blood/sweat/tears from his clothes after tomorrow's game, and pray to God the Giants play bad enough with DeVito at the helm to allow them to get Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, or whatever other quarterback college football fans say is good enough to draft with a Top 5 pick that doesn't live with his parents after college.

Okay that last part was a cheap shot. I'm just jealous of Tommy since I pay for everything at my own house like an absolute sucker (including Netflix since my parents account no longer works here) just to be woken up by my own freeloading kids at 5 AM.
