I Have No Idea How Joe Burrow Turned This Into An 11 Yard Completion

Joe Shiesty might legitimately be back in full force. I’ve watched this play like 10 times now, and I’m still trying to figure out how Burrow found his way to get out of this. He was wrapped up by two different defenders, one of them being Nick Bosa, last year‘s Defensive Player of the Year. To have the awareness to be able to not only get out of the pocket but deliver an accurate throw is a big reason Joey B is a franchise QB.

In the modern age of football, what’s even the purpose of having a quarterback who isn’t mobile? I won’t act like Joe Burrow is Lamar Jackson in 2019, but he can move. It adds such a different dimension to your offense when you have a quarterback who is capable of getting out of the pocket and making plays.

I’m a Lions fan. I really like Jared Goff, but there’s a reason why the Lions built through the trenches. If you don’t keep him upright, he’s not capable of improvising. Burrow is the opposite. If the Bengals pull off the upset today, they are very much back as frontrunners in the AFC.
