The Phillies Pathetic Collapse May Have Cost Us Mad Dog Russo Forever

As you probably have learned. The Phillies lost the NLCS. The lowly Diamondbacks , a team no one gave a chance to, a team that was so disrespected all year, a team that wasn’t given a prayer to come back from 0-2, and then again down 3-2 has advanced to The World Series. The Fightin’s (or do those idiots spell it Phightins? Who cares) we’re LAUGHING … I mean laughing at the thought of the lowly Diamondbacks going into Citizen’s Bank and winning Games 6 and 7. Absolutely LAUGHED at.

The Philly fans were already counting their tickets to the World Series, planning their tailgates and greasing the poles. It was a DONE deal according to the city of brotherly love , also the city that’s been voted the ugliest in the country multiple times, built a statue of a fictional boxer, made a movie about a special teams player, and threw a parade for a LLWS team that went 2-2, but that’s besides the point.

In fairness, The Phillies fans weren’t the only ones who were saying this series was over. National treasure and absolute electric factory , as well as sports radio royalty , Chris “Mad Dog” Russo went so far as to say the Diamondbacks had so little chance to win 2 at The Bank, he risked his reputation and future on it. The man vowed to retire from radio and Tv. Now listen I hate the Phillies being a Mets fan, but part of me was rooting for the scumbags at the end. How can we lose Mad Dog. A guy I grew up listening to. An absolute legend in the game , a man who has provided countless entertaining moments like these …

I for one want to say that Phillies fans can clown on the Mets all they want, and we are a damn disgrace when it comes to having success or actually delivering on promises or potential , but the one thing the Mets can hang their hat on is that they never choked so bad it cost us a STAPLE of the sports media world. I for one am ashamed at how putrid of a display the Phillies put on in games 6-7. Forget defending your home field, forget showing out for yourselves, or your fans or your city… MAD DOG RUSSO’s CAREER WAS ON THE LINE FOLKS !!!! If you can’t get up to play for that … you really do have no ticker and deserved to lose. Sad and disgusting display.

Please don’t retire Chris. It sucks you backed the gutless Phillies, but don’t make the rest of us suffer. Luckily it appears he said it will just be a retirement from radio, which hurts but not as bad as Mad Dog hanging up the microphone altogether.

On a brighter note … the world gets to see the greatest pitcher on the planet on the biggest stage of baseball.

Happy Gallen Day to all who celebrate … see you Friday.
