The Black Suit Feature In "Spider-Man 2" Is One Of The Coolest Things Ever

I haven’t completed the new Spider-Man game in its entirety yet. When I do, I’ll do a review for it. I’m about 30% through the entire game; I don’t know how much of that is the main mission and how much of that is side quests. I really liked the game the first several hours I played it, but when they introduced the black suit, I immediately fell in love with this game every bit as much as I fell in love with the 2018 game.

Spider-Man has been around in live-action for over 20 years, and I still don't feel like they've got a black suit/Venom storyline, correct. Those Venom movies are goddamn terrible, and while "Spider-Man 3" has its merits, it's hard to deny that it got pretty goddamn goofy when it came to the black suit stuff. In this game, they nail it.

The gameplay speaks for itself. You feel invincible while wearing the black suit. These games do such a great job of giving each version of Spider-Man its own unique personality, both in terms of the web swinging and overall powers, but they take it to a new level with the black suit here. Every future live-action version of Spider-Man should take notes from this game. This is how you do the storyline right, and incorporating Harry as a key piece of it was a genius Idea.

Like I said, I still need to play the rest of the game, so I'm going to wait to give a full comprehensive review, but it is amazing to me how good the storytelling is in these games. The people at Insomniac Games truly understand the character of Spider-Man. These games are fun but also mature. The tone aligns more with what I'd like to see from modern MCU films. The dark moments actually have real weight to them, and a dumb joke doesn't undermine them. You would drool over this game if you grew up reading the comics and loved the black suit saga. They couldn't have done it any better.
