Dave Portnoy Is A Fantasy Football Force

Dave Portnoy is a gambling guy. He's not a seasoned fantasy football veteran. I gave him the 2nd lowest draft grade in the entire league.

But after an 0-2 start, Portnoy wisely pivoted and unloaded his plethora of Runningbacks (Joe Mixon and Rhamondre Stevenson) for superstars at less valuable positions (QB and TE) with Josh Allen and Travis Kelce. Since then he's been on fire and has now won three of four with this win over Mike Moustakas.

Even with McCaffrey going down mid-game and George Pickens on a bye, the duo of Josh Palmer and Michael Gallup was able to muster enough on Monday Night Football to put him over the top. With De'Von Achane's injury and Jeff Wilson Jr. not yet back, Raheem Mostert is a legit RB1 on a weekly basis and this team is a force to be reckoned with. Meanwhile, Moose is struggling and outside of Amon-Ra St. Brown, didn't have another player crack 18 points this week. Although he has made some shrewd moves with Salvon Ahmed and Jakobi Meyers taking advantage of the PPR formet. Unfortunately his stack of Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins has put him in quite a deep hole to start the year.

But last place still belongs to Wil Myers who also didn't have any players break 19 points as he falls to our new 1st place squad managed by Mike Trout.

Adam Thielen has been a massive pick for Trout who has the luxury of leaving Mike Evans on the bench. His squad is deep and he'll be looking to make a deep run in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Myers is in a whole head of trouble as Rhamondre Stevenson played well, but outside of Stevenson and the Raiders D/ST, every other player fell well below their projection.

Speaking of guys that can't catch a break, Eric Hosmer fell to 8th place at 2-4 despite being 3rd in the league in scoring.

The new guys JT Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber are not only crushing on the diamond

But on the fantasy field too ever since Cooper Kupp came back from injury. The PPR dynamo led their squad again with 27.8 points. They also got 41.2 points out of their young backfield featuring Travis Etienne and Kenneth Walker III. Meanwhile, Hosmer fell short on Monday night with Tony Pollard and Keenan Allen's missed connections costing him the game.

We had a major upset this week with Manny Machado getting firmly back in the fold at 3-3 taking down previously undefeated Mike Napoli. Tyreek HIll put the team on his back again with 28.3 points but he's got a big question mark at QB with Justin Fields going down.

Napoli didn't get the boost expected from Austin Ekeler's return but also had some tough injury luck with both David Montgomery going down with injury and Davante Adams getting his world rocked.

Napoli fell out of both 1st and 2nd place behind Trout and the duo of Jake Marisnick and Andrew Benintendi who moved to 5-1.

Even with Justin Jefferson on IR they put up an impressive 142.18 points in Week 6. Every player except Nico Collins and Dallas Goedert outdid their projection and Breece Hall looks all the way back from his injury last year. On the other side, the duo of Alex Bregman and Brian McCann have been struggling like their franchise QB Patrick Mahomes (in fantasy only). They only had two guys beat their projection in Michael Pittman Jr. and the Jets D/ST. It's been tough sledding for that group but they'll need Mahomes to find his way and Jonathan Taylor to regain his 2021 form to compete.

Speaking of struggling teams, the duo of Shane Bieber and Austin Hedges is reeling after failing to crack 80 points this week.

Their Runningbacks are a disaster with both Jahmyr Gibbs and De'Von Achane missing their games. Jerick McKinnon and Gus Edwards isn't an ideal starting duo in any format. Though Zay Flowers is a diamond in the rough. The Joc Pederson, Austin Barnes, and Alex Wood trio is hitting their stride with big performances from Derrick Henry, Alvin Kamara, Stefon Diggs, and Drake London. They've got some power players and if they can get their QB situation right, they could make some noise.

Here's where we stand through six weeks:
