Michigan State +3.5 Was The Wildest Ride Of The Day
It started off, likely as you expected with Michigan State and Rutgers ... ugly. In fact, very ugly.
Michigan State broke away to a 24-6 lead in the 2nd half, and essentially just needed the clock to tick and tick and tick down to get out of The Garden State with a win. Pinned deep and trying to punt was where the spiral started.
Rutgers charged back after the turnover and cut the lead to 3 …
And as if the Spartans couldn't play any worse …
And of course …. Rutgers rams in another score.
This is where it gets fun/sick and twisted. If you are doing the math at home, an extra point gives Rutgers a 4 point lead, meaning Michigan State not only coughed up an 18 point lead in the 4th, it coughed up an 18 point lead and still still couldn't cover. Nearly an impossible feat. Nightmare type stuff.
Well …
Missed EXP and the game goes scoreless the rest of the way. Michigan St +3.5 went from the safest bet of the day late in the 4th to needing an absolute miracle break to cover. What a wild wild wild ride. Did they deserve to cover? Hell no. Should Rutgers special teams be ashamed (even if they did make some big plays)? Of course . But will Spartans backers give the money back? Hell no …
That's gambling baby …
Final thought: this was not a bad beat because Rutgers was dead the entire game, and it’s a fluke the game went scoreless the last 8 minutes. Michigan St +3.5 was the right side the whole way.
