"You're An Expensive Backpack For 30" - Is Supposedly What Caused Draymond Green To Punch Jordan Poole In The Face

Just about a year ago, Draymond Green set the internet on fire when he decided to punch Jordan Poole directly in the face

something that months later he would admit basically fucked up the entire Warriors season. Even though all this time has passed, we still never really heard exactly what was said/transpired in that practice to cause that type of reaction. Earlier this summer we had Cam'ron throw out some suggestions based on his "sources"

Hmm, not totally unbelievable I suppose. Nothing about that is all that surprising in terms of a potential dig.

But now we have what appears to be a little more concrete evidence as to what was actually said. Let's have a listen

….I mean…is Jordan Poole wrong? Draymond's contract certainly isn't small and obviously, there are expensive tax bill ramifications that come with it. In terms of being a backpack for Steph Curry, well yeah. Every Warrior not named Steph Curry fits into this description. Steph Carries every player on that roster. He basically carries the entire franchise. Would Draymond have all these rings if he never played with Steph Curry? Would he be regarded the same way without being on those teams? Now I'm someone who does think Draymond is extremely valuable to what the Warriors do on both ends of the floor. The way he directs the defense, how he's used as a facilitator and offense initiator, all that stuff is important. But it's also true that everything the Warriors do revolves around Steph, both on and off the ball.

The bigger question to me is more, should that be enough to cause such a reaction from Draymond? I think this tells us that it didn't really matter what Jordan Poole said, Draymond hated that dude and was looking for any reason whatsoever to punch him in the face. It seems less and less likely they they were cool and then Poole said something that sent Draymond crazy. If being told you're getting carried by Steph Curry is enough to send you over the edge when literally every player on the roster gets carried by Steph Curry, that's extremely soft by Draymond. I think it's more believable that he always wanted to punch Poole in the face, and he just took the first chance he got.

As with almost all of these stories, I'm sure there's more to it, but the more that comes out the more it looks worse for Draymond in my opinion. At the end of the day, he did win the battle considering the Warriors shipped off Jordan Poole and Draymond got his 4/100M extension, but man he sure looks even softer than before if all this stuff is true.
