Video Has Surfaced Of New Mexico State Quarterback Diego Pavia Allegedly Pissing On New Mexico's Logo

This is another to add to the list of college football stories that would be really difficult to explain to people who don’t follow college football. I enjoy college football, but the last rivalry I find myself thinking about consistently is the New Mexico/New Mexico state rivalry, but the story was too good to pass up. On September 16, New Mexico State beat New Mexico by a score of 27–17. That victory did not become the story. New Mexico State quarterback Diego Pavia might be in trouble as he was allegedly caught pissing on New Mexico’s logo inside their indoor practice facility.

Look, I’m not going to get on this kid too much. He’s going to get in trouble for it. He made a mistake and acted stupid. I’m 28 years old and a stupid ass, so at this point, I’m willing to forgive most transgressions of anybody younger than me. He’ll grow from this and better himself. With that said, I didn’t know that New Mexico versus New Mexico State was such a big rivalry.

No sport in the world turns rational people into irrational people quite like college football does. You could take the most well-educated, upstanding human being in the world, and they become a filthy fucking animal the second they start talking about college football rivalries. In some ways, just in SOME ways, it makes things less fun. This is not one of those instances. Nobody got hurt. You had a quarterback who had a lapse in judgment and decided to piss on a logo. The only person I feel bad for is the person who had to clean it up. Do people have to clean this up, though? I don’t know enough about turf maintenance to really comment on this.

I’m guessing this will probably lead to a suspension, and yeah, I guess it should. I believe in second chances, but this is a wild showing of stupidity. The thing about rivalries is that, even though they get decided on the field, the fodder and material never ends. You know that this is going to be brought up every day until these teams play. It's important to point out that Pavia is not a senior, so he can look forward to some creative signs from opposing fans for the next few years.
