Charlie Manuel Clowning On Himself Just Days After Suffering A Life Threatening Stroke Is Why Uncle Cholly Is The Best

First thing's first, it's GREAT to see Charlie Manuel is up, aware, and joking around after suffering a stroke over the weekend (even if he probably isn't physically typing out his Tweets, no way Cholly is that grammatically correct even when 100% healthy). The legend had the life altering event while undergoing a medical procedure where the doctors removed a blood clot. At 79-years-old, it initially seemed grim but Uncle Cholly took the night and started making a jovial comeback on social media within a few days.

It goes to show A) How cool of a guy Charlie Manuel really is if one of his former players like Cutch can playfully bust his balls after suffering a life debilitating stroke and 2) How cool of a guy Charlie Manuel really is to engage back clowning himself with extreme self-awareness. Cholly knows how he talks, and it ain't the most eloquent. Hell, it's hardly English at times. And that's all good because, well, it's Uncle Cholly. We're going to love him no matter what.

It was initially reported Manuel has been squeezing hands and reading texts. Now there are even accounts of Charlie getting out of bed now against the doctor's orders because he has way too much energy. Awesome. Keep it going as we need Hittin' Season to be extended thru Red October and November. Just get Howard Eskin into his rehab program and Charlie will be up ready to knock him out again in a jiffy.

Or any umpire, for that matter. Here's 20 minutes of Uncle Cholly giving it to the boys in Blue.

Long Live Uncle Cholly.
